Solar PV Design Engineer II

Position Location: Chandler, Arizona

Job Duties:

 

  1. Design Photovoltaic (PV) systems for residential and commercial buildings in Helioscope, review specific customer requirements in RFP/RFQ, and identify value proposition for the desired solar system.
  2. Assist Business Development Manager to secure client contracts by providing expert technical support on solar panels, inverters, racking systems, and energy storage solutions.
  3. Assist in generating specification development of appropriate components (solar panel, inverter, racking, rapid shutdown and accessories) and facilitate the permitting for installation.
  4. Assist with the updating CRM systems, procurement of products, and provide design engineering support to the sales operation team.
  5. TRAVEL: Unanticipated domestic travel to locations like CA, NV, and GA for training and conferences. This includes unpredicted travel to client sites located within the U.S. Travel will not exceed 6 trips per year

Job Requirements:


Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s in engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related. Employer will accept foreign equivalent if in same field.

Experience Requirements:

  • 12 months of part time experience in job offered, Instructional Technology Assistant, or closely related. Employer will accept part-time experience if at least 20 hours per week.

Special skills requirements:

  1. Ability to generate multiple mechanical and/or thermal system design concepts and down selecting to a feasible set.
  2. Use engineering tools to ensure mechanical and/or thermal system designs meet specifications, customer requirements and provide problem recognition.
  3. Ability to present design work to sponsor/client after undergoing formal design reviews.
  4. Understand and apply fundamental principles of thermodynamics including properties of substances, their relationship to energy transformations, conservation of mass, first and second laws of thermodynamics, analysis of thermodynamics cycles and efficiencies of power and refrigeration systems.
  5. Use of engineering tools and software’s such as AutoCAD, PV Syst, NREL SAM, Helioscope.
  6. Complete technical report writing and additional projects as needed.

Salary:  Available upon request

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
